The Isabella Grace Invitational Golf Day.

Monday the 4th June 2012

Headley Golf Club, Queensbury.

The Isabella Grace Fund is pleased to report that the Charity Golf Day was a resounding success.

45 Golfers consisting of family, friends, work colleagues and sponsors met at Headley Golf Club, Queensbury for an eagerly awaited day of fundraising and raising the awareness of Bronchiolitis and RSV.

11 four ball teams took part in 18 holes of Golf which started at 9.40 in the morning. Fortunately the rain that had caused havoc the previous 24 hours was nowehere to be seen and this made for perfect playing conditions.

Prizes were on offer for the winning four ball team, runner up, individual winner, runner up, Longest drive and nearest the pin.

Graham Jones was first to tee off on the 9th/18th hole which was being used for the nearest pin. With the first shot of the day he struck a lovely drive which landed on the green just left of the pin and measured a fantastic 7ft 4 inches away. This was a great shot which fellow players admitted it would be hard to get inside that distance.

Graham had set the standard high. Players came and went, some came close, some not so close using there Mulligans as balls sailed over the wall.

Mean while on the 1st/10th which were being used for the longest drive, some players were flexing their muscles and some players were making good use of there Mulligans as attempts were being made to secure the longest drive.

The leader for the longest drive changed hands on 3 occasions, leading the way was Titch, then Richard Batty, Paul Pollet and finally the winner being Gary Mason.

On the 18th hole, Phillip Hudson hit a sweet drive which dropped 2 foot 4 inches short of the pin to take the nearest pin prize.

In all the quality of golf played was excellent, everyone played with a smile on their face. On one occasion one of the players tried to retrieve his golf club from a nearby tree.!!!!!!

At 1.00, friends and family started to flow into the clubhouse to join in the fundraising and awareness day. As teams started to complete their rounds, teams shared a well deserved drink and tucked into some pie and peas in the bar and then the presentation took place.
